Salsa Verde

Gotta love a quick dip for a chip! Homemade salsa verde is unbeatable.

Ingredients
  

  • 7.5 oz tomatillos
  • 1 tbsp chopped serrano pepper
  • 1/4 cup green onion chopped
  • 2 tbsp cilantro chopped
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 lime juiced
  • water

Equipment

  • 1 chef's knife
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 baking sheet pan
  • blender
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons

Preparation
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F.
  2. Wash the tomatillos, remove their stems, and roast them for 20 minutes, flipping halfway.
  3. Add the roasted tomatillos, serrano pepper, green onion, cilantro, and salt to a blender. Squeeze in fresh lime juice.
  4. Blend until smooth. Add water to thin, 1 tbsp at a time until desired consistency is reached.

Substitutions, Add-Ons, & Alterations:
  • Add avocado, yogurt (contains dairy), or sour cream (contains dairy) for creaminess.
  • Use jalapeño instead of serrano pepper to make it spicy.
  • Use regular onion or a shallot in place of green onion for a stronger taste.
